Protecting our crops and native flora
The 19th Australasian Plant Pathology Conference (APPS Auckland 2013) will bring together scientists working in both basic and applied pathology research from New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea and the rest of the world including Asia. The Conference will be held in Auckland, a key hub of New Zealand’s NZ$5 billion horticulture industry. The Auckland area has over 8000 hectares of horticulture including vegetables, strawberries, wine grapes, fruit crops including avocados and apples, and, nearby, glasshouse crops such as capsicums.
APPS 2013 brings together presentations from international experts and emerging researchers covering topics including nematology, virology, mycology and bacteriology. The Conference programme will also include site visits to working orchards and a research station, and the conference will be held in central Auckland at the Owen G Glenn Building of the University of Auckland.
